The Harrisburg Camera Club will be taking a field trip to Gerhart Machinery Co in Lititz, PA on Saturday, July 22nd.
Gerhart Machinery specializes in re-building and re-manufacturing of heavy equipment (http://www.gerhartmachinery.com/about/). Adjacent to their facility is a used equipment yard full of wonderful old trucks, cranes, crawlers and all sorts of machinery parts including the famous Mack Truck line. This is a great place to get photos of old equipment, textures and abstracts.
To get an idea of what is there, check out the photos submitted to Gerhart’s Facebook page by the Spring Hill photography group https://www.facebook.com/pg/Gerhart-Machinery-Company-448065101922589/photos/? tab=album&album_id=1473588072703615. If any of you want to submit your photos to Gerhart after the field trip, send no more than 5 to me at email@example.com by July 28.
In addition to your camera equipment (camera, lenses, batteries, tripod, flash if you want, camera cards, etc.) please wear heavy shoes preferably ankle high. Absolutely no sandals. Because there are weeds around the equipment you might want to bring bug spray. And don’t forget bottled water to keep hydrated.
Everyone is welcome to drive to Gerhart on their own but if you would like to carpool:
West Shore: meet at Arby’s in the Camp Hill Shopping Center at 8am. Irene VanBuskirk will coordinate from there.
East Shore: meet at the house of Nancy Japak at 8am, 514 N. Mill Rd Harrisburg, 17112. Nancy and Karen Commings will coordinate from there.
Gerhart is closed on Saturday so parking anywhere in their parking lot is ok.
