Important Announcement #1

The Harrisburg Camera Club will be holding a “Meet the Photographers” reception to celebrate their current exhibition at the ATEC Building on the Central Penn College Campus.  The exhibition of 22 photographs fills the atrium of the ATEC building located at Valley Rd. and “B” St. in Summerdale.  The reception will be held Saturday evening March 19th from 6PM to 8PM.  Everyone with an interest in photography or in the Harrisburg Camera Club is welcome to come.  There is free parking at the building and refreshments will be served.

To all HCC members this announcement is going out late so please, if you have a facebook page or webpage spread the word on the exhibition and reception ASAP.  I would love a big electronic blast from all our members to any photographers or artist they know.  I will need volunteers to help with the reception… more on that to follow.

Important Announcement #2  Photography Field Trip March 19th Saturday morning

I have made arrangements for the club to photograph at the J&D Auto Salvage Yard just off the Rt.72 exit of the turnpike, just north of Mt. Hope Estate and Winery.  This is a trip that has a lot of promise.  The salvage yard opens at 8 AM and closes at 12 Noon.  We will meet and carpool from the Camp Hill Giant at 7:15 sharp.  We need to be at the salvage yard by 7:55.  If you want to go directly to J&D be there by 7:55.   Sunrise is at 7:11, so we should have soft light for a while.  I will take a count at the meeting Tuesday night the 15th, because the owners would like an estimate of how many photographers will be there.  We can talk about the field trip experience at the Central Penn reception that night.

Educational Program on Tuesday March 15th David Adams on Framing your Photographs

Professional framer and friend of the camera club Dave Adams will present a program on how to frame your photography.  This program is time to coincide with the upcoming “Print of the Year” Competition and our exhibition of work at ArtsFest over Memorial Day.  Dave will discuss mats (colored and archival), cutting of the mats and better ways to mat.  Dave will talk about wood and metal framing options and which glass to use.  He will touch on proper wiring techniques to hang your work.  This is a really important meeting if you plan to sell your work at ArtsFest.

The Light and Creativity Workshop page is open for registrations
