Photographing in Bethlehem, at Steel Stacks
and gallery hopping at the Banana Factory and

Leaving Camp Hill at 9:00
This is our traditional last scheduled fieldtrip for fall of 2016. We will be traveling to the Bethlehem to photograph and see several photography exhibitions. November is Photography Month in the Lehigh Valley with several photography exhibitions at various locations in Bethlehem. This will mark the fifth year for this trip. The weather looks great this Saturday and several members have expressed interest in participating.
Here is the schedule:
9:00 - Depart Camp Hill for Bethlehem
11:00 - Arrive at the Banana Factory to see the “InVision 2016 Pennsylvania Photographer’s Competition” and the Santa Bannon /Fine Art Gallery. There will be four exhibitions in one building will save us some time and walking.
12:00 - Leave for the DuBois Gallery at Lehigh University to see Robert Frank exhibition. http://www.luag.org/event/frank/
12:30 - Lunch at the College at the eclectic Pandini's on the college grounds on the second floor of the University Center.. Unique food at reasonable prices.
1:30 - Photo walk in Bethlehem
2:30 to 7:00 - It’s off to the steel mill to photograph from the Howard Mason Trestle, an elevated promenade towering 46 feet above the ground, similar to the Highline in New York City. This walkway is about 3/10ths of a mile long running parallel to the blast furnaces. After dark the area is light by colored floodlights. Sunset is at 4:40 PM.
What should you bring:
Water, a fully charged battery, extra batteries, extra digital cards, comfortable shoes, a tripod, a longer lens and/or a wide angle for the buildings, a ladder for getting up higher, quarters for the parking meters, money for lunch and dinner and gas money for your driver.
We are leaving from the Camp Hill Giant promptly at 9:00AM, park on the Arby’s side. We hope to return no later than 9:00 PM. The weather looks good for evening photography.
For those members on the East Shore the designated pick-up location is the Holiday Inn in Grantville. We should be there about 9:45, but you must let Andy know if we are meeting you there, otherwise we will not stop and we will keep going!
